On offer is a Garner Moody West Coast Haida First Nation Hand Carved 18k solid gold Thunderbird & Eagle Bracelet. Weight: 54.11 grams Measurements: 6 3/4 x 1 inch Karat: 18k 750 Garner Moody is a master Haida artist from Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, born on May 27, 1958, in Prince Rupert. He was raised in Skidegate on Haida Gwaii and is the nephew of the renowned argillite carver Rufus Moody. Moody displayed artistic talent from a young age, drawing extensively from the age of nine and carving his first piece of argillite at fifteen. He moved to Vancouver in 1987, where he was invited to assist the legendary artist Bill Reid on his full-scale Lootaas canoe, a significant experience that deepened his knowledge of Haida design and argillite carving. During his time in Vancouver, he was mentored by several prominent Haida artists, including Nelson Cross, Alfie Collinson, Ron Wilson (Gitsgah), and Clayton Gladstone. Moody currently lives and works on Haida Gwaii, where he creates masterful works in various mediums such as argillite, gold jewellery, red and yellow cedar, and sterling silver. His art often features traditional Haida symbols, including the Raven, Wolf, Bear, and Hummingbird, each imbued with deep cultural significance. One of his most notable works is the Ts’aahl pole, part of a series of six poles located at the Haida Heritage Centre in Skidegate. His pieces are collected internationally and are available through galleries like Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery and Pegasus Gallery of Canadian Art.
